Symphonic metal news with a sprinkle of fairy dust

News Round-Up: Bad News & Good News - Leaves' Eyes Singer Change, Muses of Metal Fest Cancellation and more...

This is a pretty huge news round-up, and it's not an easy one to write. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and there are some big shocks today. There are also a few more positive things to help soften the blow. But this is nonetheless a tough day here on the blog. Stay tuned...

Liv Kristine Splits From Leaves' Eyes

Leaves' Eyes have announced today that they are parting ways with their lead vocalist, songwriter and founding member Liv Kristine. Little is known about the split, though both the band and Liv have expressed their pride in their work in an official statement.

Liv formed the band in with her husband Alexander Krull in 2003 after leaving Theatre of Tragedy. They have released six studio albums together, with the most recent being the epic King of Kings in 2015. Liv has also enjoyed a successful solo career with five albums of her own.

Liv's replacement has been announced as Elina Siirala, the Finnish vocalist of the band EnkeliNation (also known as AngelNation), who resides in London. The band commented: "We embrace Elina with open arms and hearts! She is a fantastic singer and performer."

The band will continue their world tour which includes dates all over Europe and North America. There will also be new editions of King of Kings released: a tour edition earbook and a US edition that will both include a new recording of Elina singing Edge of Steel.

Here at the blog I'd like to extend my thoughts to Liv, Elina and the other band members during this difficult situation, and wish them the best of luck in the future.

Muses of Metal Festival Cancelled

It is with an equally heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of our upcoming Muses of Metal Festival.

Our headliners Draconian have been forced to pull out due to visa issues. We have worked hard over the last few days since receiving this news to try and find a replacement headliner, but sadly this looks unlikely at this point.

As such we have had to make some difficult decisions, and have decided that cancelling the festival is our best option as we can no longer offer the full show promised. We are greatly saddened by this, but this comes down to matter completely out of our hands.

To everyone that purchased a ticket and supported us in the project: thank you. Please accept our apologies at this time. Full refunds of the ticket cost will be made over the next few days.

For any queries, contact musesofmetal@gmail.com
